Dentures in Atlanta, GA
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are false teeth designed to replace your missing teeth and restore your ability to eat, speak and feel confident. There are a number of different types of dentures; regardless of the type you choose, yours will be customized to fit you specifically.
What Denture Types Are Available?
A full denture is the best option when you’ve lost most or all of your teeth on your lower or upper jaw. Depending on your situation, you may be able to choose between conventional affordable quality dentures that rest directly on your gums, and implant-supported devices that snap onto embedded dental posts. We can review all of your full denture options when you come in for a consultation, so call to schedule your visit today.
A partial denture is ideal if you’ve lost only a few teeth. Partials can be fixed or removable, although fixed partials are most often called bridges. Of the removable type of partials, acrylic, flexible plastic and chrome cobalt metal dentures are most common. Acrylic partials feature rigid bases and metal clasps that are slightly visible. Flexible plastic partials are made of a pliable polymer so they tend to move more comfortably in your mouth as you chew and speak. They feature gum-colored clasps that are less visible than metal clasps. Chrome cobalt metal partials are extremely thin and highly durable partials. Because they are constructed of a very thin metal, many people report that they are very comfortable to wear and use. In general, these metal dentures cost more than acrylic or flexible plastic.
What Are All-on-Four and Implant-Supported Dentures?
An All-on-Four denture is a popular type of implant-supported denture. Implant-supported devices attach to dental posts that are implanted in the gum and bone of your mouth. As the name suggests, All-on-Four dentures attach to four dental posts. There are many advantages to this style of denture, including the fact that it protects somewhat against jawbone loss.
What is the Procedure for Getting Dentures?
The denture process usually begins with preparing your teeth, gums and jaw so they can support your new dental appliance. This preparation may include tooth extractions, jawbone grafting and a variety of other possible procedures. An impression of your mouth is then made so your new teeth fit in perfectly and your bite is comfortable. Your dentures dentist will use wax samples based on these impressions to begin finding the right denture fit for you. When a final sample is approved, your final affordable quality dentures will be made. In-office adjustments are performed to ensure comfort and function when your final denture is delivered.
Are All Denture Options Affordable?
Compared to other methods of replacing missing teeth, most dentures are a fraction of the cost. Still, there are high-end options you can choose, if you prefer. Finding the right solution for your missing teeth is our goal, and our dentists work diligently to find you the affordable, quality dentures you need for good health and a bright smile.
When Is a Soft Reline for Dentures Needed?
An affordable option to replacing a denture that’s suddenly uncomfortable is a soft denture reline. Over time, your gums and jawbone recede and weaken. This causes your once-comfortable denture to move around more and rub against sensitive gum tissue. A soft reline is a liquid polymer that is injected into the base of the denture, boosting its depth and cushion. This procedure may need to be performed a few times, depending on how long you keep your dentures.
